The next trip!

All of us in Krakow OCT 08

We have been fairly low key about some plans which have been brewing for a little while… a trip to Poland in January! It will be from January 11th to the 28th, God has provided essentially all of the funds already, so no fund-raising!  We are excited and at the same time in a lot of prayer, we will be meeting with friends and leaders learning about many of the details it will take for us to make the big move.  We ask for you to intercede with us now, as we know there will be many details and more obstacles which can seem overwhelming.

The goal of this trip is two fold.  First, take as much opportunity to observe ministry, with our friends in Kraków and in Wrocław (we’ll be there too, more on that in a minute).  We’ll be attending every event we can, having coffee with every person we can, and praying a lot.  We need to begin making these appointments now – which can be difficult, so please be praying that people’s schedules allow us to be used by God.

Second, we will be meeting with other Foursquare friends, leaders, and missionaries in Wrocław (about 3 hours west of Kraków).  They are the leaders of The Rock church and we are excited to share with them what God has laid on our hearts, to learn from them, and simply fellowship and glean what God is doing through them.

We covet your prayers and look forward to what God is doing!  If you’re Polish and reading this, let’s schedule some time for coffee!  :)

Video Recorded!

So last night we were able to do the video. Lets just say that Travis was made for this and me…not so much. I think I prefer the stage. One good thing is that there will be bloopers at the end of the video so make sure to wait for it. It will be 95% me and the rest maybe Emma. (Yes, she is on the video and did fabulous. Here are some pictures of our adventure last night. Enjoy.

Travis and Emma in the lime light

Nathaneal- the mastermind that will make all my mistakes look good. Bless him...

Emma loves visitors to our house, and ones that bring toys?! Even better. My little producer

I really loved all the lights

We’re Stars!

Well, not really. But we are making a fundraising video featuring our vision for Poland and our hopes for the future. Tonight is the night we are filmed. I’m sure we’ll have the video for you to see on here or another simple avenue. This will be Emma’s chance to show the world what kind of actress she is. Just kidding, but she does have a bit of drama in her… ;)  I think we’ll have her sitting on our laps or something. Enjoy your Tuesday!

An update! Finally!

The radio silience of this blog has certainly been an indicator of our real life, but finally we have taken the time to make a newsletter.  Check it out.  Hopefully some more action will take place around here.

Paper-cuts are on their way

This past week has been a lot of prepping for paper-cuts.  Next week we will be printing and stuffing over a hundred envelopes full of the plans for our future.  This is a very important first step into our official fund-raising phase, getting the word out.  Our goal is to have at least 100 monthly donations of $30.  There is a lot out there “fighting” for people’s money, so we are spending a lot on presenting ourselves in a serious and professional way that communicates what God has put in our hearts for not just the “people” in Kraków, but our friends.

Keep us in our prayers, for the paper-cuts to be minimal, that printers print what we need w/o wasting envelopes (which we have had custom made), and that God leads us to send these “kits” to the right people.   We are also raising funds for our last short-term trip this coming July – which is a separate beast in and of itself, the team is looking to be a great and amazing team – which we are all very excited about – and that’s another prayer point as well.

REACH Polska…. The next mission…

It has been a few months since we returned from our last mission in Poland in October, 2008. It was a learning experience that we will never forget. From the exhausting flights and layovers to sickness and injury then to miraculous healing and building of new relationships we gained a new desire for the Nation of Poland. Our resolve has never been stronger to see our friends there receive healing in the area of relationships and freedom from bondage and strengthening in their relationship with God.

We learned that there are communications barriers that we need to overcome and while this is true here in the states as well as in other parts of Europe, Poland is where our heart is. The uniqueness of Poland is the population of Bible believing Christians is less than one percent. While the country is 99.99% Catholic, there is still need for truth and healing.

We are looking to head back in late July. Outreach is on our list of things to do, as well as create a video of interviews from the Christian Polish community to find out what it is that they want for their people. What is it that we can bring to them that is tangible that they can take to their families and friends in order to release healing and start a move of Christ that will encompass the city of Krakow.

We have a support and newsletter that will be coming out soon to ask for your support for this next trip. The trip will be 2 weeks in length. We will need prayer and financial support.

A big year ahead…

This new year marks the beginning of a very important phase in our ministry.  Beginning this month we begin our long-term mission campaign!  Our church council and missions team have cleared the way to send us as long term missionaries to Kraków, Poland.  From this point forward we’ll be seeking at least 100 donors to donate $30.15 on a monthly basis from now until August 2010 – this will help put $61,155.00 into our reserve account for us to start out (includes funds for living, ministry, and travel).

We’ll be getting the word out very soon to our current donor network.  We have a lot of logistics to get through and we’re feeling the stress, not in a bad way, but in a very “this is fo real” kind of way.  Please keep us in your prayers, consider being a monthly contributor, and each of us who personally know God are in the ministry as well, so we wish to hear from you, so we can pray and support what God is asking you to do and doing through you in your lives as well,

Details details

Sometime we wish we could hire (or better yet, find a very nice person to donate some time) to take care of the details of fund raising, reconciling accounts, and communicating with our support network.  We have a lot of details to get through, and sometimes the job is smaller than we imagine, it just takes us blocking some intentional time out to get it done.  Since it’s been nearly a month since we returned from our trip – it’s time to start the big project of saying thanks – thankfully Donor Tools will make that A LOT EASIER!

There are no words

There are no words for me to describe what happened today, our God is so loving.  Even though we walk through valleys, even though our closest friends face surmountable challenges, His faith in us does not waver.  The favor He has shown us, our work in Poland, and us as a couple, keeps us humbled.

Tonight, for the 2nd day in a row we received $1,000, so over the last 24 hours we have seen Him bring in $1,950 in all our years of fundraising, this is the 11th hour year.

Thank you Jesus, we take this to the people of Poland and humbly serve you.

Do a little dance!

So, God is truly a LAST minute God, I know he always has been, and that wont’ be changing it looks like.  We’ve gone from, not sure if Corey and Jenise will be coming to their coming FOR SURE.  In the past two hours over $950 has been secured!  PRAISE JESUS!  From three different donors, who have no idea of each other, AMAZING grace, that’s what this is.

Almost ready for takeoff.

Tomorrow night we will receive prayer from our church as they send us off to Kraków.  We are $658 short of buying our last two tickets, and tomorrow night we make the decision as to how we navigate this, as I see it we have the following options.

  1. Pay for the tickets, covering the shortage on our own – leaving us w/o spending money, but with our dear friends.
  2. Buy one ticket – and whatever is left over will be for spending expenses (not much though).
  3. Make the decision for Corey and Jenise to stay behind, leaving us money for trip expenses.
  4. Wait for full provision of the last two tickets and money for spending, as they have about 6 extra days (they will join us on the 10th if all goes well).

Be praying, we’ll see what God has in store!

Fund raising update

We’re VERY close to our next big hurrdle!  On Monday we must pay the remaining balance of our airfare on five of the 7 tickets we need.  We are short by $406, and we have 3 days, we lose our deposit ($3,370) if we don’t pay the remaining balance by Monday.  The last two tickets will hopefully be purchased very soon, but we’ll be purchasing those in whole.

We are very excited and can’t wait to see God move, thanks for your prayers, support, and love!

A dream

Last week I had a dream (in my sleep) that when I received the next account balance it was over $7,000, I’m believing it, and holding on to it.   I rarely remember my dreams, and this was fairly vivid.

Another kind of dream that I have, is that our ministry never be there to support a structure, institution, nor any thing that is about something other than God and His people.  Recently Alexis and I have been reading “Unfamiliar Paths” by  David E. Bjork.  David tells the story of his life, from being called/sent from his denomination to “plant” a church in France.  Essentially he has a epiphany that changes his entire idea of “church”, from realizing that The Church is already there, and that his real mission is to bring the living Christ to people, not the church structure.  Because The Church is living and organic.  So our dream is that we be about relationships first, and that as a forest grows, the Church will grow.

$15 makes a difference.

Hey Friends!

Well the first (partial) week of our $15 challenge brought in 20 donors!  How many more this week?

We just need 447 more donors (of just $15, or more), pass this along to your missions friends, family, churches.  We have $6,455 more to raise/contribute.  Remember this is for the team, not just us!  Keep contending in prayer!  We’ve been discouraged, but now we’re in God’s hands, and ready!

457 $15 donations to go!

We’ve had 6 nope 10 people donate or pledge so far and it’s been basically just a day since we started this campaign.  Thanks!  The amazing (strange) thing is that for the most part some of our largest, and most responsive donations have come from people we don’t have much contact with… now that could be taken as, well that says a lot about us in a bad way… maybe the people we see a lot are there for us in more than just donations… that’s for sure, they know our Prayer requests!

God is good, not because he brings the money in (although we are thankful for that!), but because he brings life, and has given us a purpose, and through that purpose we learn to be more like him, and bring more people to him.

The $15 challenge!

We know why we’re called to Poland, and we know God has not brought us this far just to turn back and say no. There is much work that has started and is incomplete, our brothers and sisters, our friends, await us to connect in Christ. To bring a message that is not laced with shame, guilt, or politics. To bring what God has equipped us with here to a place that is ready for the harvest.

So we’re taking a leap of faith. We have until September 15th to raise $7,000 needed for our trip to Kraków in October. Watch this video we’ve made, and then, pray if you will be one of the 467 people we need to donate just $15 by September 15th.

We will keep you posted here and via email with the latest numbers, stay tuned!

Fundraiser dinner canceled

Hi Everyone,

Due to the small number of people able to attend our fund raiser this Friday, we have decided to refocus our resources into (hopefully) a more productive campaign.  The event we had planned for this Friday is canceled.  Stay tuned for the next couple of days while we re-work a new fund raising campaign.

Just FYI:  We need $7,000 by September 15th.  Stay tuned to this site for more information!

Stay tuned for more ways on how to help us get there!

Thanks for your understanding and prayers!

We’re leaving on a jet plane…almost

Well we have made the deposit on our airfare, we need $4,755 more and we’ll have it all paid off!  That’s better than the $8,125 we needed just two weeks ago!  We are so thankful to God.  We need the remaining balance by September 15th… so we are praying, and seeking God’s will, on finding the rest.  If we had 100 more donors give $50 we’ll be good to go for the rest of the airfare.  If 100 give $70 we’ll have the entire trip paid.
